Hi All.
I was just about to buy a clampmeter when i came across the fluke t5-1000 which for me sounds like a good idea as it kills two birds with one stone.
However I'm a bit nervous, my main concern being that of the ammeter part of it. With its' fork type of arrangement is it as reliable and accurate as your standard clamp type? Is it worth buying? If anyone has one of these units i would appreciate your comments.

i bought mine years ago still going strong.the handiest clamp meter i bought was an earth leakage clamp meter that does up to 150A. i use that for 99% of load tests these days as well as the earth leakage function which can save loads of head scratching i tell ye

Like for like, the physics suggests that an open jaw clamp meter like that of the Fluke T5 or Megger DCM330 is not going to be as accurate or have the resolution of a similar ranged closed jaw clamp meter, but in most non-critical measurements may be more convenient. This is reason you don't see open jaw earth leakage clamp meters.

The Fluke T5-600 or 1000 don't measure DC current which can be severely limiting if working on CCTV and alarm or door entry systems e.t.c.
