Hi everyone,
I'm still fairly new at this game. I have come across a really basic problem but it's really cost me a lot of time and swearing.
I've been re-wiring a fairly old house. The existing wiring was all surface mounted in trunking. The client wanted the new stuff chased into the walls. No problem I thought, especially as a plasterer was coming on site to do all the walls after. The walls were plaster straight onto brick throughout. After chasing all the channels for my cables I came to clip the cables to the wall before I put capping over them. The mortar was that old it kept crumbling everytime I tried to put a clip in. I managed about 6 in the whole house before I gave up and ended up drilling and plugging the capping to the wall to hold the cables back.
Does anybody have any better solutuions as to what I could've done? It ended up taking me an age to secure all the cable runs.
