College vs apprentaship

Hi I'm confused about a apprentaship and college what are the pros and cons of each?

I'm currently doing a level 1 electrical installation course at college and I got sent to meet a careers adviser and he said because I'm excelling in class I could have a chance to do level 2 in a appretaship
I would like to do the apprentaship as I like the practical side but confused
What would be the better choice? Would I get the same qualifications as college and Would I need to buy my own tools?

Iv been offerd a boot camp on south east London's biggest building site and if I pass they will get me a fulltime one as the college is a JLT association

Just my opinion I did 6 months probation 5 year apprenticeship and a final 6 months as an improver then got laid off, as was the norm back in the good pld days, but you must follow your nose, I was just offering my opinion.

College is learning what you should do on site and how to do it.

Apprenticeship is learning at college as well as actually doing the job on site and you get paid for the honor.

Between the two I'd always go for apprenticeship, no question.

And no, you won't have to buy tools, at first anyway.

The pay would be poor but be better then at college I get 0 thanks to David Cameron so its rely edging me to the apprentaship
I like the practical side of things so I think a apprentaship is the way to go

Why would you get paid at college anyway?
Just Google apprenticeships and read how they work, it will be a lot easier for you.
You'll still go to college in an apprenticeship, my tutor when I was doing construction said he always prefered apprentices due to the fact you've learned the practical side as it happens rather than from a book, saving you learning that once you've finished the college course.

Quite a few job vacancies ask for "an apprenticeship trained electrician". Sign of the times that companies want the quals and the experience in their staff.

and apprentices to have all c+ GCSE minimum and be 19-25 lol
Trainees must have 1-2 years experience
Sometimes I look at what some of them ask and wonder how they expect anyone to become fully experienced

I'd always expect someone learning in the real world to come out on top over anyone book taught, but sometimes that's the only option.
If you have the opportunity to do an apprenticeship and it suits you ok, then I wouldn't hesitate

Apprenticeship all the way. You go to college one day a week paid and the other 4 working on site and earning. You take pictures for your portfolio,
College is good for when you don't yet have an apprenticeship and are looking for one.
A full time college course triea to simulate installations with your board to prepare you for on site work.
As for tools it depends on who you work with. They'll either want you to have your own, they'll buy you some or you can ask for them to buy them at the wholesalers and pay bits off out of your wage.
