Colour of sparks.

Probably just a blue/green colour deficiency. What you may think is blue may be green to some other people like aqua or turquoise

It could be the metalic composition of the contact points. Eack metal will give off a different spectrum in an arc.

When I read the thread title I was a bit worried about the content.

Were you thinking everything may not be black and white?

Re. O.P, ask a group of people to describe the same colour, whether sparks or not and you'll get varying answers.

If it's blue sparks, it's probably directly viewing the arc.
If it's green it's filtered thro' the plastic in the switch.

Yes if you hit a bit of galvanized with the mig you get a nice greenish glow, mind you that will be distorted through the shield.

The foundry I worked at used spark spectroscopy to analyze the composition of the metal we produced
