combi / room stat connections

i took a look at a room stat and combi earlier today,
could anyone clarify for me the following?

in the combi there were 2 sets of connection points, and they were marked up as follows:

the first had
L / / N / NS / LS / LR

the second had
FR / FS / NP / LP

in the room stat it has:
earth / 2 / 3 / 4 / 1 / 5 / 6

how do you configure the wiring connections for the cable from the room stat to the combi?
could you also explain it to me aswell as telling me how its done so as i can understand it please?
not sure what all the letters represent either.

I am still learning and and want to know everything but not done any combi or room stats as of yet?
and as my name says im a wannabe sparky

Its unfortunately not that simple as unless the room stat is supplied as part of the boiler package they tend to be universal to fit in most situations and the room stat wiring diagram (usually in the lid somewhere) needs to refered to although you could use a multimeter to trace out Live and Switchwire connection while turning stat up and down.
The boiler also best refer to wiring plans or go to website and download pdf connection file.

Hi.

FR/FS/NP/LP are your frost stat connections

L/N is Live and Neutral supply from spur

NS/LS/LR are the roomstat connections NS = neutral to stat (if required) LS = permanent live to power stat, LR = switched live return from stat. Usually LS and LR are factory fitted with a link which is removed is a room stat is fitted.

Sounds like the stat you have is a Honeywell one, Terminal 1 = live supply, Terminal 2 = neutral supply, Terminal 3 = switched live out.

This is a pretty general description for most boilers / stats. As said best to check all manufacturers instructions first before powering anything up.
