hello all , i still learning and need some advice about industrial plugs. i need about 5.5 kw of power from some bs1363 sockets mounted on a mobile contraption which would be wheeled to near to a consumer unit for connection.
i'm thinking a 32 amp circuit breaker feeding a 32 amp single phase commando socket next to the consumer unit, then get a little stuck as i don't know how to connect the bs1363 sockets to the commando socket. would the mobile thing need a little garage unit, being fed from an extension with a commando plug on it? would discrimination be a problem if the garage unit protected the sockets with a 32 amp cb ? i suppose i could use a 25amp cb but this getting a little close to maximum demand.
or is this sort of thing done differently? can the bs1363 sockets be connected directly to an extension with a commando plug on it? i just don't know. any help would be appreciated

Actually I'll think more first. What is a "mobile contraption"?

This could well fall under the special locations section of the regs, so a little more information please.

You've lost me too Tank. What are you powering from your 1363s? Is the 32A commando delivering the 5.5kw? How many 1363s are you powering? etc etc. I think you might need to break the job down fully here so we can help you

It's difficult to say without knowing what you're trying to do.
With this type of question it's best to explain what the problem is instead of being overly cagey about it and trying to half guess a way around it - there's usually an 'off the peg' solution.

Sounds like you want to use a BSEN 60309 commando plug and socket as a connector from a CU circuit to BS1363 sockets.
Have the socket on the wall and wire in a BSEN 60309 commando plug on a flexible lead (presumably 4mm2) to the sockets, with your power requirements I would expect the BS1363 sockets to be wired as a 4mm radial. you would need to ensure the flexible lead was secured to prevent strain on the BS1363 socket connections.

thanks for the replies everyone, especially to richard for persevering through my gobbledeguk. your answer shines the light perfectly . ta
