Discuss Commercial and Industrial Testing in the Periodic Inspection Reporting & Certification area at ElectriciansForums.net

Well theres a lot more to it then domestic, I would try to get a bit of experience working with someone else doing a few tests first, I have never tested any where bigger then a large unit (workshop) on my own, although I have been part of a squad loads of times on big jobs, its handy to have someone with you to do r1+r2 tests, fuse finding etc.

Small scale, as in like a shop fit.. and office fit.. and like a small factory making chairs and tables etc like large units

So no industrial comes into it then?

Small scale commercial I would say.

Only reason I asked is that some might think you're on about big commercial premises and industrial plants.

All the larger industrial sites either have their own maintenance team or bring one in to cover EICRs/PIRs.

Why would a company approach a one man band to do this type of work one wonders?

Smaller 3-phase units employing up to 100A/200A per phase supplies are still better approached with two people working and testing together.

Any commercial/industrial site that I have done EICR work for wants you to state that you are competent, and detail some of your experience, together with being a member of a suitable trade body. This requirement is usually filtered through to the client via their insurance provider... I am wondering whether they will pull you up on the fact that you are only DI registered rather than AC?
