Hi,

I'm looking for some advice as I'm feeling a bit clueless! 3 of our 4 bathroom lights seem to be failing or on the way out. They flicker constantly and dim on and off. They have only been in about 4 years so we weren't expecting them to go so soon. I was thinking that we would just replace them so we took one down to see what it was and it's a Scolmore LED 4400ch7w. My question is, do I have to buy the same brand to replace the faulty lights, or are there other brands that are compatible (and cheaper!). I've had a look online but I don't really know where to start! Grateful for any advice!
Thanks!

If you look at the picture it clearly shows a switch mode power supply on top of the lamp.

Can't physically see that? But in any case, as far as I'm aware all the Scholmore down lights input voltage is low voltage for the driver, the output voltage is extra low. Like most of the other sealed assemblies. Willing to be told otherwise.

You can fit anything to replace those downlights, but you will have to check the hole size and do some wiring to connect them.

If you don't want to do that then these will fit the hole and just plug in using the existing connectors fitted

Scolmore LED4600CH7D Inceptor Omni Fixed Dimmable Tri-Colour Switchable LED Fire Rated Downlight With Chrome Interchangeable Bezel & Flow Connector IP65 5.6W 240V, LED4600CH7D - http://www.discount-electrical.co.uk/product.php/404587420/scolmore-led4600ch7d-inceptor-omni-fixed-dimmable-tri-colour-switchable-led-fire-rated-downlight-with-chrome-interchangeable-bezel---flow-connector-ip65-5-6w-240v

FYI we had quite a few of the fittings that you've had fail, fail on us in a similar way. Interestingly it only seems to be the non dimmable type that have ever failed. If they were registered with Scolmore when installed, you will have a 10 year warranty.

Thanks for the replies. I will give Scolmore a call in the morning. I've had a look online, but it looks like they might have discontinued that model as the only place that model seems to be available is ebay at £36.99 each!!
Archy - were they lights like mine that you replaced? Is what you posted in the link not a bulb? (please forgive the ignorance!)
Thanks!

That explanation would make a lot of sense and would certainly explain the new bases and new boxes, with old relabelled alarm heads. I do remember...
