******TRAINEE COMPETITION*********

Following my thread yesterday about a little competition, this is the official competition thread, so all entries must be posted up in this thread.
The competition requires each trainee who wishes to participate to post up a photo/ photo's of an installation that they have carried out and that they are proud of.
The installation can be whatever you want ie, lighting, sockets, consumer unit.
In addition to the photos we would like a description of how you went about the job, environment, design, erection, you can even include testing procedures etc
This part was a good call on Rob's part as it will give the competition a bit more depth.
The competition is now open and will run until Saturday the 21st of February which I think will give everyone a fair chance to choose their favourite install and time to put together the description/ Story to accompany their photo's.
There are 2 prizes up for grabs in this competition:

1= onsite guide 2015 inc, amendment 3
2=Megger tpt 210 voltage indicator/ Rob thank you this is a very generous donation and an essential piece of test equipment for any trainee.

Finally when all entries are in I will nominate 2 mentors to each pick their favourite and the 2 winners will each win one of the Great prizes.
These are 2 great prizes so really put some thought and effort into you entries, Good luck chaps and I look forward to seeing your installs.
Regards Glenn

Thanks to both of you for your generosity and efforts. I'll have to get my --- in gear and set up a comp and donate a prize once this one's done.

I think you do enough mate already along with Marvo, Paul & Tazz, trying to keep the Madhouse in order!!!

sintra and marvo are, at this very moment, engaged in designing a secure cage (with electrified bars) for gorillas. electrician-smiley-emoticon.gif

Oh go on then! So it's not the neatest you'll see but I always struggle a bit with neatness with board changes, especially when there are cables coming in from all angles! I am aware that the hole at the back is too large (as pointed out by Paul on a picture I posted before) but have only knocked out what I needed (parden the pun) since I received the feedback! We were altering the existing installation (half renovation type job) adding sockets and and some lights, we were also asked by the client to change the board. The change was fairly straight forward; none of the circuits needed lengthened and everything tested as it should. All simple stuff. A brief list of what I did:

1. Turned the radio on!
2. Prepped new board
3. Identified unmarked circuits (2 of)
4. Isolated board
5. Perfomed IR test
6. Marked up cables
7. "Unwired" board
8. Removed old board & mounted new one
9. Terminated circuits, performing ring tests as RFCs were terminated
10. Performed R1+R2 tests on all relevant circuits
11. Energised board
12. Finished testing including Ze, PFC, Zs's and RCD tests
13. Marked up and stickered new board

Job done!

Managed to avoid top entry (unlike previous spark) so hopefully maintaned some IP rating!

Big thanks to you guys again, these comps are excellent!

Cracking job Resu :icon4:

Resu excellent job mate but unfortunately You are disqualified due to the fact that your list lacked one essential ingredient.

Every good electrician always flicks the kettle on and brews up before switching off all the power.
Sorry mate but them's the rules:grin:
