just found out company competition is telling clients i am not qualified as i dont have a JIB card. anyone know what legal comback i have

Scotvec 1,2 electrical installation (C&G equivelent)

Full craftsman papers

ECS certificate

If you take legal action that will require your customers to give evidence and you may lose them because of that. It may be better to send a solictors letter £20-£40 ish to the other company pointing out the libel and slander. Get your solictor to send you a copy of the letter and show that to your customers if they mention anything.

That way you avoid heavy legal costs and your customers can see the letter your solictors have sent.

I found out about it from my contracts manager who had was told by the director. the director saw the client ( shopping centre managment) and took a copy of all my certification down. its cometitors who are doing it.

You will need the people who were actually told that you were not qualified to attend court and give evidence anything else would be whats called hearsay evidence would not be taken into account by a court.

It needs a lot more investigation by you as to who said what to who where and when before you can do anything. The director has already proven your competence and shown that the other people are liars so I would say you have won already as they have shown that they cannot be trusted.

Thats good news in my book you are hurting them a lot and its their way of fighting back in the long term they will do a lot more damage to themselves than to you. As Ive said they have already proved themselves liars and we all know how fast bad news travels.

I would send them a letter first stating that if they do not stop their slanderous remarks you will have no other course but start legal proceedings for slander.

Your qualifications will be more than what they have!The only difference is you haven`t lined eca`s pockets.

not much you can do about it if its just verbal and it gets expensive if you try to prove anything was actually said.

my advise is to ride it out and let your work do the talking. anyone that knows their stuff would be on your side anyway.

A guy I know in Edinburgh attaches a photo copy of his grade card and PLI to any test sheets he issues as works on his own plus as he is not required to be "registered" and the local council is happy with this.

So ignore them rise above and when you get "confronted" by a joe public who has been wound up enough then hand him/her a copy of your grade card and play the open and accesable card instead of the how dare you card. Remember you are only pariniod if you think they are talking about you not if they are s shake your head and tell the customer how sad it is that the copetition has to go to this level
of insecurity to get work.

Its getting very serious now as i found out they have deleted records and files of company computers.
Sounds like companybare going to take them to court for Slander,libel (they have stuff in writing)and as much else as possible.
Old timer i have never beeen approched as i would gladly show quals but i have no SJIB card. the client has seen my quals and now knows i am qualified just not affiliated and now knows difference.
