Hi, after some advice as my retired electrician father in law can’t figure it out.

We purchased a house with a bore, I have attached the current setup in a picture. The dol contractor is always on so we have to use the isolator switch to turn off and on (he said saomething about the isolator being broken as when turned off there is still one phase that is live on the pump. That’s the first issue.

How would I go about getting him to connect a retic controller to the bore pump. He said it’s hard to do because the floatless level switch

Any help would be appreciated.

Google tells me that a retic controller is for controlling irrigation systems. I would expect these to have an internal switch, probably volt free, to control an external pump.
I presume the level controller is to prevent the pump from running dry. I've fitted a few borehole pumps, and remember taping bare ended wires to the pipe, a metre or so above the pump.
This looks to all be in an external cabinet, so the first thing that needs to be done is to replace that unsuitable for its environment isolator with a new one with an IP rating of 55 or better. Same applies to the switch socket, if it's required at all.
The contactor and level controller all have, or at least had, adequate IP ratings, but cable entries and fixing holes must maintain this, of course.
Assuming the above is correct, I would expect it just to be a matter of connecting the contactor coil, the overload switch, the 'off button', the retic controllers switch and the volt free switch from the level controller all in series, between one phase of the supply and the neutral, or across two phases of the supply, depending on the voltage rating of the contactors coil.
The 'on' button can be left disconnected, or can be wired as a 'test' button, bypassing the retic and level controller, which might be useful for fault finding.
