Finished a job about a month ago, 4 light industrial units, bog standard 3p and pme. Got a letter today from one of the 'consultants'.... the new occupiers of unit 3 are having a gas supply installed (no, I dont know why they didnt put it in in the first place either) and will need to be bonded to the main earthing terminal, a distance of about 20m. As there will be large fault currents flowing on both the neutral and earth :)confused::confused::confused:) the bonding cable will need to have a cross sectional area of 25mm. Also, it is recommended that this work is carried out on a Sunday as it is anticipated that the fault currents will be lower.

So, I have to bond the gas.
In 25mm.
On a Sunday.

Happy days:D:D Just praying the other three have gas put in;)

Steve.

Hang on. The new occupiers will need to be bonded to the MET? (That's what it says). In that case, 20m might not be long enough if they have to pop out to the shops at lunch time or something. Then you've got the problem of exporting an earth outside the equipotential zone. Probably better to rod the occupiers individually.

Can't beat a Sunday for nice low fault currents though. Did they indicate what time the fault current would be at its lowest? (I'm assuming it's tidal)

Consultants eh? Gotta love 'em.

Double bubble for a Sunday then Steve....:)

Errrr.... Ahem..... Didnt actually price the job, part of the letter said .... a cost of £762.45 has been allocated for this work, which includes all materials and leaving the site in a clean and tidy state. This price is NOT negotiable and will NOT be paid until a certificate covering the work described has been provided.

As I said, praying for the other 3 to have gas put in! :D:D:D

Dont you just looooove them fault currents!! :):):)
