Renovating a house at the moment and the mains position and consumer unit was in a little toilet room. It is now being turned into a shower room and cost to move meter is too much for the client.
It is just out of zone 2 but obviously still needs a boxing in of some description. What degree of protection is required for it....?

not the best idea. steamy shower + improper ventilation = condensation drops. water and electricity do not mix very well.
if you have to then fit a ip rated enclosure around the meter and service head and get the consumer side tails out of there.
