Makes my blood boil, just got off the phone to someone who has had a pair of monkeys(supposedly qualified sparks)who charged £90 and said it would take 3 hrs,but were there all day as had rcds triiping on up and down sockets,no certs and they left saying they could not find the faults, grrrrrrrr this is in my area(which has 20 sparks in a 3 mile radius)and this is what im up against,i felt sorry for the bloke who had it done as he thought £90 sounded reasonable,i might get a call tommorrow to go there, grrrrr not a happy bunny.

you will be if you get a few hours work out of it. then word goes round that it's not best to go for the cheapest quote.

WTF job I was at has a vacant site next door they had called a locksmith to open glued locks and fit new ones his charge £60 PER HOUR Im deffo in the wrong job

A new CU, 2 blokes for 3 hours - £90.00 - not exactly a successful business model is it?? Say £45 for the CU, that leaves £45 for pay so £7.50 per hour each.

Tesco's probably pay more.

I see it round my way all the time, why don't these type ever get caught. I know a plumber who advertisers leccy work and says ge is nic, is he ****, nic stickers all over his van. I have had to go to three of his cock ups over the last month grrrr no certs or anything grrrr

I'll supply & fit for £80

Seriously though, that's nuts! It's not just electrical though. There are major undercuts all over the board. Tiling, plumbing, joinery, painting & decorating. These customers think there getting a bargain not realising its gonna cost them soooo much more later on....including poor safety!

He needs reporting to NIC then. I'm sure they will take a very dim view of anyone abusing their logo. Especially someone who hasn't paid his subs !! lol Get him stuck on the NICEIC wall of shame.

I have calmed down now lol,i was spitting teeth when i posted:furious3:<he should of been in the 1st post.

Dude seriously dont know what your worried about!!

you have been called in as the decent sparks!, quote to redo the board install, sort the problems, do a pukka job the way it should be done and cert it accordingly

The chap who got these monkeys in will now realise what he gets for peanuts and will no doubt recount this story to others and recommend you for being a proper spark who does a decent job!

look upon this as an oppertunity, every cloud....and all that!

trust me, these idiots only make the decent sparks shine even brighter, and make the general public stick with one they trust when they eventually do find them!
