Consumer unit move

Hi Guys
Got a call today guy wants to move cu from garage into house about 2 mt along same wall.
I was thinking new tails then join circuits with Wagos then put into adaptable box trunking along wall then through to new location. Questions does board need to meet 17th? what cert should it be ? EIC? am going for a look in the morning so forwarned is forarmed. Any rough guesses at price would be well recieved.

yes would need to be 17th edition with a dual rcd distribution board and would need to be part p certified.

Was not sure if it would need to meet 17th as it was only a move not a new installation part P not a problem.

Yep need 17th and remember if the tails get extended to over 3m you need to put a main DP switched isolator in. Everything else looks OK.

Depending on how many ways etc. I'd be looking at 300-350 at least, more for London.

So could well be a new board then if not upto 17th if 16th ed board and sup bonding in place and rcd on sockets its ok to just move it ? or should i just go for board change ?

Go for a 17th board don't go messing around with bits and bobs like supp - you can get a decent 10 way 17th on offer for about £60 now, and at meteor you could bring it in for about £40 but we're still waiting to see if they're any good or not!

IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING you could convert the 16th board, but is it really worth it? Quote for a new board, take the old one home and convert it as a practice project if you want, and there we are when you get some old granny or some single mother that's hard up - 'well, I've got this on the van, it's used but I'll give you £50 off' and everyones a winner!

i would hazzard a guess at the move/ extending of the cables would be classed as an install and as such should be done to 17th ed, as would any new wiring regardless of weather the rest of the house conforms to 16th ed

Go for a new board if you upgrade the one you have at the moment the new RCD will take up the space of two circuits which you may not have anyway.

As the others have said it must be to 17th and certified.
