you cant issue a EIC for the rest of the install... you didint install it!

Hi
If you are not NIC Or Part P Reg you can issue the green D1O Forms Domestic Electrical Installations Certificates and i would say once you remove the CU you will be held responsible for the whole job if lights , sockets don't work, check all work before you start and carry a writing pad and drawing pad and mark down all works before you start.

Thanks

If you change a CU you have to test all the circuits and enter the results onto the test schedule, how can you not be taking responsibilty for the circuits. If this was the case only the original spark could change the CU and issue an electrical installation cert. Happy days

aahh yes, i do agree that the whole install should be tested, but would have to be on a periodic and not a EIC... ;)

But then the NIC bloke comes around and asks why you changed the consumer unit. You give your reasons, but the test sheet still indicates departures / failings in accordance with BS7671.

They request the periodic report. It shows your list of deviations, etc....

How can you justify a CCU change and nothing else????? As a professional, your duty of care is to ensure that each circuit protected by your new MCB/RCD/RCBO is fully compliant and safe.

But the client didn't want anything else done ? You started working your way through the rectifications from your PIR observations but stopped after the CCU was changed.

If

I'm registered with the NIc and if i want to issue a PIR do I not have to have the C&G 2391 or am I getting confused with something else Happy days

think you are getting a bit confused there. if you change a cu, an eic is issued with all the readings entered and accompanied by a schedule of inspections and a schedule of test results ;)

a periodic is only required if it is specifically asked for or you decide to carry one out before replacing the cu ;)

However it's done, you need to have a guarantee of no sharp/unprotected edges that can damage the insulation. Personally, I'm not that impressed...
