Hi, I do not know much about electrical regulations but I have recently had a consumer unit fitted in my kitchen, it is very near to my sink but is also very unsightly. I was just wondering what the minimum distance is for the consumer box to be near water? Thankyou

Closest for anything electrical to a sink is 300mm ie even just a socket has to be 300mm or more away.

Hope that helps

First of all Why did you permit this location if you are unhappy with it>

Consumer units are not to be installed where young children might interfere with them, they should be above flood level and be accessable
There is not much more regulation wise specific to consumer units than requirements for equipment
generally

It must be suitable for the environment
Keeping accessories 300mm from sinks is guidance not regulation, although most guidance is hard to ignore

The consumer unit is unlikely to present any danger other than splashing of water especially at the top

If it is very near, how near is that
Is it located adjascent ,higher or lower?

Other than unsightly it may not contravene any regs
