I have a Fluke 1653 and have been testing without problem for a couple of years with it.
However, I have just had it calibrated and therefore should not question readings.
But I appear to be quite often getting 0.0 as a continuity reading and it does not look correct.
Is there a problem with the fluke I should be aware of or is something i am doing wrong.
Latest reading was on 14m run of new 10mm t/e continuity reading 0.0?
and again on 5m run of new 2.5mm t/e?

Anyone any ideas or should I just record this on cert?

sounds like calibration is out. you should get some sort of positive reading even if it's only 0.01

no its just that the cable is of low resistance and i suspect when you last nulled the leads you over compensated when hold the tips or clips together
take of the null and try again

Use a check box ...

,most good testers , fluke and megger etc, should read to 0.01, but if nulled wrong that figure can will show as negative as well as zero

its not likely i know and i dont remember seeing it myself but it is true , if it didnt it would not meet the reqs of GN3 , its got to measure to 0.01 in order to measure .11
ie the resolution is 0.01

whats a few .01 ohms here and there ?
we loose far more than that on resistances of screws and testing tips etc
i have had negative readings on a short large csa when i have not nulled the leads correctly, it depends how hard you press the clips together
i found with the megger the average reading of the leads is about 0.13 ohms so i have a roughy idea what to expect whenever i null the leads..
