I have an early 1900's house which used to have a bathroom downstairs. The room has since been used as an office with an extension cable from the kitchen for electric. Can this shaver socket be converted into an electrical outlet?

I have a little knowledge of electrics and would presume (haven't looked yet) that the shaver socket will be run from the lighting circuit. I have installed electrical outlets from a spur and was wondering if a fcu could be used in any way to allow an electric socket to be used or is there another way?

Many thanks
Chris

the shaver socket might well be on the lighting circuit. fitting a socket outlet is a bad idea as you'd be limited as to load. the correct way would be to tap into the socket circuit. best to get a local electrician round to advise.

I know I can't just replace it for an electrical outlet, I was wondering if there was any way around running a spur from the landing. If not then a spur from the landing is what I'll do just hoping for an easier way so log as it was safe.
