cooker and induction hob urgent help URGENT ASAP

just having an argument with a customer at the min n need total clarfication on this,fitted a cooker on 6mm radial 32 amp supply as was originally installed ,but she has bought an induction hob which is fed from the same circuit as the cooker which is 7.5kw on full power would the cable be sufficiant or will this hob need a seperate 10mm circuit ran in feeding just the hob,as she is saying there is no need for this as some electrician has said this is fine,but from mypoint of view it is not safe

Both units need to be within 2 mtrs of the control unit and when working out cable size you need to take into account the wattage of both units. So from what you have said I think you are correct and she is pushing her luck.

Does the cooker need a 32A supply as some are only on a 13A plugtop. If it does then you may be pushing it with the hob as well. Dont forget diversity as the OSG states the first 10% of the rated current plus 30% of the remainder of the rated current Plus 5A if a socket is incorporated in the Cooker CU

thanks for replies yes i have connected the cooker to the isolator point which is within 2 meters of the cooker/hob unit,also connected the hob to the same circuit as the cooker which is supplied by 6mm t+e single bunched, 10 meter run. just think she is pushing her luck i dont want to upgrade the mcb to 42 MA AS 6MM t+e IS ONLY RATED AT 32 MA,i have told her she is pushing her luck n gave her a quote for extra circuit she said that is an outragouse price,which it is not she says im lying to her as other electricians she knows has told her hob and cooker will be fine which i know is not

If you are not happy with the set up, walk away. It's your name on the certificate.
I have had this before with showers fed by either 6mm or 4mm, the customer has supplied their own 10KW shower, because they can get it cheaper than me, alledgedly!

I agree with you mate. But at a push you would get away with a new 6mm radial, but its just as easy (or difficult) to stick a 10mm in. so i would do that as also. Just as a note, i have stopped fitting cooker isolator switches on the wall, i now fit a 100 DP isolator in an adjacent cupboard just inside the door so it cant get obstructed. Fed up of changing switches when they burn out.

I dont know who's post mentions Part P, but this is a notifiable job.

The 6mm cable should be OK protected by a B32 breaker. Just point out to her that if the hob & oven are both on full at the same time then it could trip the breaker. Perhaps even put this in writing at the end of the job, adding that the choice of cable was agreed with her before she chose the new hob.

As long as the cable is protected then the problem should only be inconvenience of resetting the trip and not danger from overloading the circuit.

The Induction hobb should be on it's own radilal supply with it's own Osolator ,
Personally I always wire in 10mm with 45a DP switch
32a is on the limits ( and thats without any correction factors.

If someone else wants to wire them both on the one circuit just makes sure she's got somwhere to tie his horse

thanks everyone for replies ive told her she is pushing her luck with both hob/cooker but she doesnt want to pay price for another circuit i told her on her head be it and have just walked away and left her too it,i cant force her to do something she doesnt want to do on her head be it,she said she will never use all the hob at once i said i couldnt care less regulations are there for a reason she wants to break them let her

A 30 or 32 A circuit is usually appropriate for household or similar cookers of rating up to 15kW.

not an expert or anything but isn't this to do with the way that the heating elements in the cooker pulse on and off.
