Hi guys, ive just run in a new circuit for a 11,5kW cooker with 6mm T & E which has a gas hob.

Q. Can I use normal grey 6mm T&E from the cooker to the outlet plate or does it need to be heat resistant cable, cause I cant find any heat resistant cable that size in the TLC catalouge?

Thanks

As far as I can remember, there appears to be probably 3 different heating spaces, its one of these 900mm wide 5 gas burner jobbies

You will find that not all of those cooker heating elements can be operated at the same time. For example, the grill and main oven can't be simultaneously operated at the same time!!
So like all ovens, the stated KW rating is only a connected loading....

i still can't see the oven/grill etc being 11.5kW. however, if you apply diversity to 11.5kW, its. 10A+12.7A, =22.7A.

deffinatly says 11,5kW on back of cooker and deffo a five gas burner.

where did you get the 12.7A in your diversity calc? I`ve got the 10A + 30% of remaining load = 12A + 5A cause there is a socket incorped in the isolator which gives me 27A worked out on 230V

Errrr, ....i was just giving you an example of how not ALL the elements can be operated at the same time!!! Take it from me .... you will ''NOT'' be able to draw that full 11.5 KW from that oven....

I understand that mate, we`ve gone a bit off topic here. Telectrix was just saying how he coudnt see that the ovens/grill could be 11.5kW.

Plus my diversity calc is different to teletrix and was wondering how he had worked it out, thats all. Anyway its on a 40A MCB so I`ll go with the 6mm T&E. :))

i got 22.7A without the S/O as you had not mentioned that before, so add 5A. to my 22.7A 27.7A ( my 12.7A was 30% of (48-10)= 12.7, so 10+12.7+5=22.7. bear in mind that i worked on 240V, as that's what most supplies are give or take. ( also i'm a dinosaur, still know what a yard is)

Using the 6mm and before that the 7/044 T&E for connecting the oven to the CCU has been common practice for god knows how many years now...so that's a good un, it'll be just as good on a 32A MCB!! lol!!
