Hi guys,

Need some help with regards to safe installation and testing of an electric cooker.

What tests are absolutely neccesary to make sure that the appliance is safe to use?, I have been told that as long as the earth loop impedance test is done pre and post installation that is all that is required - so not sure!

Is it vital to carry out insulation test and earth continuity? Any pages/suggestions would be grateful.

Thankyou.

are you refering to the circuit or just installing the cooker?
the circuit requires a full set of test
but if just connecting the cooker then no tests necc as the circuit should already comply to whatever regs and you are not working on the actual circuit, just like plugging in a kettle, providing you have checked the circuit is suitable for the load

Check the clearance between the back panel and/or terminal cover that you've removed. Look for small burn marks.

Good thinking - the other side of that is my garage and also where the gas comes in so probably quite a tidy solution if it comes to it!
