Ive just looked at a job where the double oven is fed from the ring main with no isolator. The rating is 4.2 kw which would draw 18 odd amps. There is no circuit on the board for a cooker. Im not sure wether it would be acceptable to fit an isolator or would it be best to put in a sole circuit for it.
 
I'm only playing devils advocate just shows how open to interpretation that BS7671 can be

Couldn't agree more with you Ian, but the point I was trying to make is "permanently connected over 2KW" OK i didn't clarify this so apologies, your point was about plugging in a 3KW appliance, but yes the Regs are open to misinterpretation.

Know what you mean Pete but should you ever end up in court this is what the Barristors would be asking only a less polite manner
