Hi everyone. This year I converted the loft into a bedroom. This was done when the weather was cooooool. Now, over the last few days I have found the temperature up there to be unbearably hot, even well after the sun has gone down. The skylights have been open the whole time. Anyone any bright ideas to cool things down? I have looked at stand alone air con units, but how effective are they, and also how quiet?

i once had one of those stand alone air con units. about as much use as an ashtray in a harley davidson. only thing it did efficiently was to clock up KWH .

As heat rises, would cutting an opening/airbricks/airvent at low level, allow the heat to escape through your skylights and draw in (hopefully) cooler air through the vent?

I've never tried it so don't start knocking holes in your house without checking it will work :nonod:
