Hi Guys,

I have a commercial client who is asking for some evidence of the 25year FiT guarantee.

I have searched everywhere and can't find any evidence of the FiT's been guaranteed.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance

There is no guarantee in the sense that any future government could change their mind and ditch FiTs and apply this to existing installations, although that is probably unlikely. Spain have done something similar and caused quite a ruck.

The "25 year" term for PV is listed in the 'Standard Conditions' at p21 of the Eligibility Period Table:

http://www.decc.gov.uk/assets/decc/...0100331172153_e_@@_fitlicencemodification.pdf

which are referenced in the FiTs Statutory Instrument:

http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2010/678/made

I should add that the really relevant 'guarantee' is the FiTs contract between the system owner and their electricity supplier, which obviously is a legally binding document.

But even this contains conditions that allow the contract to be varied or terminated if the government change the FiTs legislation itself.

EON, for example, say:

"We may terminate this Agreement if the Government withdraws or materially changes the FIT Scheme."
