So my dewalts diamond falling apart, literally the fronts falling off, and I can't get the chuck off to see whats going on. Annoying as it's only about 3 years old. These days tools don't seem worth/designed for putting in for repair as the costs Vs new don't stack. Normally I'd just chuck $$$ at a nice new one as I do use it regularly if not daily.
BUT. We'll be emigrating within the next couple of years. I don't know what I'll be doing or if I'll need it. So loath to spend 400-500.
Where are all the budget brands? Why are the in-betweeners like einhell, erbaurer etc who make decent enough if not pro level tools not on this, offering a tool for the occasional user?
Or even a pro tool brand SDS or even SDS max combi crossdressing drill with hammerstop that's rated for diamond cores too? Would be perfect for the all rounder.
Anyway a new dewalts out so my options as I see are the ubiquitous Makita, but 850w doesn't seem enough (yes I know but) and no soft start on the trigger seems crude today. Or the metabo. Or the dodgy Chinese offerings on eBay? 2000w for £150, what could possibly go wrong?
Or I go back to using my old DeWalt SDS combi hammer which is only core rated to about 90mm but has the clutch and seems unbreakable?
Or buy an SDS max rotary drill and one of those hammer-stop core adapters? Anyone ever used one? Must be weird with the hammer shaking the drill even if not transferring. Was thinking of an SDS max anyway as I've shattered a couple of SDS+ arbours when using a 3" TCT hammer core, and the SDS max attachment seems more robust.
Tell me what I must do!
