Correct me if I'm wrong but ..... To become an electrician in the UK
I have completed an apprenticeship and continue to be working for a local company going on 5 years total now.
I did 3 years in college, plus 2 years on site experience (NVQ level 3)
Also did AM2 (what's the point if not competent after this)
Then 2382 (17th edition)
Now.... if I want to go self employed I need 2391, but 2391 has finished, so I got to do 2394 & 2395 (twice the price) then pay NIC or ELECSA or NAPIT an annual fee to be able to sign off and do work legally....F**K SAKE.....might as well work for minimum wage WTF????
As far as I understand the Part P exam is for other building trades to be able to alter electrical circuits (WTF ?).
Don't mean to sound negative, Any assistance is a massive help thanks.
I just want a clear cut route on what qualifications and route is needed to become a self employed electrician in the UK (I could have trained to be a f*****g surgeon by now).
Thanks, great forum.
