hi there,

just wondering if any of you know how to get a council works contract or at least get into sub contracting for them?

any info would be of help

thanks

Would agree regards being fast.

Last year I started for a mate whos the builder doing refurbs. On the 5th one now, but soon learnt after the 1st that if i wanted to make any money, i'd have to get my arse into gear a graft.

So far so good, always been paid 2 weeks after each property is signed off by the council.

Council work has been my bread and butter for the last couple of years. I consider myself lucky because I got into it through chatting with a manager whilst doing my other (non-electrical) council job. I get jobs emailed to me in a morning and normally have a week to get round to doing them. Quite an informal arrangement. Most of the jobs are repairs, fault finding, like for like replacements, heating etc. Occasionally get roped into doing rewires.

nope not niceic or eca, was going corgi awhile back but decided against it as the work i was getting didnt warrant it.

If needs be im willing to register with Niceic.

Just wondering if anyone knows what the process would be to get into council work, and also who the best person / people to talk to are.

Thanks

If you're within 50 miles of Plymouth, post your CV online and every agency in the country will be on to you to get some refits done for next to nothing as an hourly rate.
