Hi everyone,

First post so please take it easy on me. I have been looking through the forum and have seen a lot of companies that offer a lot of courses and it boggles me a little bit (if im honest).

My first question is i am in scotland and the course that interests me is the olci training center, I know that there has been a lot of write ups about this training center but in your honest opinion is the centre a good place to get your qualifications. ?

Second question after I have completed the course I know a electrician with 15 years of experience both offshore and inshore and will be carrying on my studys with him part time to get my knowledge to the best i can before making a step to either self employment or working for another company. The question is really after all the training will i be able to actually be a good electrician and be able to undertake day to day electrician work.

I would love to hear from people who have already done the course and see what they are doing now.

I know you have heard it all before and there are a lot of posts the same but please try and answer if you can it would be much appreciated if there are any other ways in which i can do the same course that would be great as well i am a qualified cabinet maker/joiner and would like to merge the electrician with it.

THANKS

everyone:D

It's the city and guilds level 2 and 3 certain in electrotechnical technology (2330) which after I phoned city and guild they said it was the approved route to go down is this correct.

What would I be able to do if I had
Eal level2 cert for domestic installers and part p
17th wiring edition(2382-10)
Fundamental inspection testing and verification (2392-10)
In service inspection and testing of electrical equipment(2377)
Solar photovoltaic (pv) cert.

Would I be able to start my own business after another year of training with a certified electrician..

Thanks for the help again.
