Cheers for that widdler. I haven't needed one in the last 7 months and don't think I'll be needing one in the near future as we're predominantly domestic but it'll come in handy one day.
I took the C&G Level 2 2330 last year and passed it this summer
and i'm now taking the C&G Level 3 2330 course, I have literally no hands on experience apart from what i've done in college but most college i find it theory more than practical which never makes sense since its a hands on job.
I studied 3 years of accounting and decide i didn't want to sit in a office all day so i changed to this
I would like to get my lvl 2 and lvl 3 2330 then possible nvq/17th edition and 2391 testing and inspection but ill take ti one step at a time.
I would love to possibly work in mines in other countries some time in future but thats just a ambition/dream for now.
If you're looking at working overseas then start to think about HND and maybe degree level. Salaries tend to be a good bit higher and so the employers can ask for very well qualified people, but you will need to get hands on experience too
Yes the hands on experience is my big problem at the moment for me, once i get a fixed work rotor i'm going to phone about and see if anyone would accept me for 1 day possible 2 days a week and in return i would like to gain experience, knowledge and reference as long as my expenses like fuel for etc are not to high.
Could you elaborate on HND and degree levels for me and explain what sort of things would this cover and involve?
Much appreciated for the quick response.
Thanks
Ben
If you google HND electrical and electronic engineering you'll find one of the first results is for Teesside University's open learning unit. The site is very easy to navigate around and is easy to understand. Completion of the HND will exempt you from the first year of a bachelor's degree
Thanks I've bookmarked these links i found for future reference, i have a lot to learn and study before i'll be ready for these.
I was told for the NVQ after Level 2 & 3 2330 you need to gather a portfolio of work in all types of electrical installations domestic/industrial/commercial, because i'm confused as i thought most companies these days only specialize in certain types and generally not all three so if this is true wouldn't it be hard to accomplish this?
If i start to make no sense just slap me and i'll head to bed and carry on tommorow when i'm not tired.
I'm not sure about these new fangled quals but that sounds about right from what I can make out.
Got my CSCS, just in case, but I don't think you can get an ECS until you're actually employed as a mate or improver etc. Is that right?
Coming to the end of level 2, got the 206 in a couple of weeks, then doing 17th and part p before the start of level 3, can't wait! Also signed up for the NVQ Level 3.
Hi
Completed my C&G 2330 level 2 and finished level 3 in August 12, started my C&G 2382-12 17 Edition (over 10 weeks due to finish in November 12. The only probelm I am experiencing is practical experience, that is lack of it.

Part P isn't a course mate it's a building reg but I hope you're not paying for it as for a qualified or will be qualified spark it's a waste of time and effort. You will not learn very much on there that will not be taught on your other C&Gs, if you're paying for it go and get your money back and buy the electricians guide to the building regs instead.
Trust yer auld uncle Trev on this
Yeah, I've got the guide. I was under the impression if you wanted to do domestic of any kind, you needed that, which I've always thought was a bit odd! So I don't need it then? Appreciate the advice. Also it's just an exam this one.
You see Lee that's how loads of lads in your situation are gettng conned. You're given the impression that to take domestic work you need that qual but if you're installing to BS7671 you're installing to part p. What you will need for domestic work is scam registration but the minimum requirement is holding the 17th
Dodgy gits!!! I must admit, I did wonder, being 2330 2 & 3 qualified why the part p?
Many thanks for that Trev, I'm not going to bother with it then, just get the 17th and finish my level 3. Really appreciate that, cheers.
