Crabtree C50's... What code, if any?

You name it and I can get it all single phase sizes and I do have a 3 phase 30 amp going that's a rare one, I bought a 3 phase 20 amp last week cost me ...........wait for it ............. £110 plus vat!

Why would anyone pay £110+ for a 20A 3 phase MCB of any description, it's got to be cheaper overall ,and undoudtably safer, (especially when talking about these naff breakers) to replace the dammed DB!!

Nine times out of ten, your buying second hand breakers that you have no idea of it's previous service life!!

Its the same with most if not all obsolete mcb's, the MEM talsiman are in excess of that. The last time I bought one was back in 2006, and it cost me £156.00 + vat!

The trouble when you start changing boards it starts to cost more than the excessive price of obsolete mcb's.

Not if you need to replace 2 or 3 breakers for say different ratings. As i say, got to be cheaper and safer to bin the DB board (which i think everyone agrees, are dangerous affairs in their own right) and replace it with a new one!!

Rattle head I wouldn't really, I work on these all the time and I do appreciate they are a death trap but they aren't a danger ( unless your stupid and go in live ). No code from me

I don't remember putting any code against these crap Breakers!! If i had my way, i'd bin the lot, boards and breakers. But that's my own personal view, based on my own experience of testing these MCB types, with the appropriate test equipment, not on any code based BS7671 certificate basis!! lol!!

In the middle of works on an old farm-house with two of these C50 boards plus some other later sub-boards. Have added a REC2S isolator and replacement main board with RCD and changeover to standby genny, from this to a Henley.
House rewire was around 30 years ago and some of the 'rings' are now more like spiders webs. Problem is very low IR on two circuits (<2k*Ω.) One traced to a water filled accessory! Second still under investigation but probably the same cause when I find it.
IMO these old C50 boards should be replaced, any comments please.

Yep c50 crabtree boards replaced ,new regs dont have earth loop disconection times for these 3871 as no curve ratings ,so got to be code 2 which as we all no is improvement ,
