Discuss crap afternoon in the Electricians Chat - Off Topic Chat area at ElectriciansForums.net

I have 3 points lingering on my licence that have been there for 4yrs+. I enquired how I go about getting rid of them and was told it's twenty quid!!! What a rip-off!!! I'll just leave them on. The worst part of it is I was only doing 32 in a 30 zone. :(

That must be if you want a 'clean' paper licence.
Minor offences are void after 3 years, heavy ones 5; from conviction I think.

Yep, I just wanted a nice clean, pink one with no nasty points on it. It's 3 yrs that they are spent and a further year on the licence for some reason. I asked if I could have a duplicate as I'd lost mine and it was twenty quid, same if you want points removed. It's a no win situation so they can stay there!!

costs you to have them removed? bollox. leave em and eventually they expire.
and wtf. 32 in a 30 and getting points. you needed a better solicitor love!

Yep was a Plod with a hair dryer hiding under the bridge............. saw the flash and thought ****** *****. :90:

I got 3 points at the start of this year.

Anyone know how long they last on the licence? I suppose google would tell me, but i know you lovely men would save me the bother...

Old endorsements used to be three , I think the penalty points are four for minor offences and stipulated by the courts for the more serious stuff.

They are "active" for 3 years but remain on your licence/record for 5 years, and hence why most insurance companies ask for motoring offences in the last 5 years....

Ah, you shouldn't have handed it over in the first place, I've still got a clean one somewhere.
