An old mate of mine wants me to change his Consumer Unit.

Whats a CU change worth at the moment? I live in the South East if that makes much difference.

I'm not NIC registered as I usually do work for firms in the commercial and industrial sector. But I'll test it for him as a periodic, I just wont be able to issue him with NIC sheets, just copies. I expect the job to take the best part of a day all in all.

Is £500 a fair price??

Decent 17th board will set you back around £70 plus the breakers. Can't see how they can do it for that price unless it's dodgy gear:eek:

Agree with Mac, something is not right somewhere, plus non compliance with part P is a criminal offence and a board change is notifiable so very dodgy for any self respecting sparky to go down any road other than the right one :(

Yeah it just seems like an easy job to do for my mate, I would test everything. I've been doing testing pretty much non-stop since 2004 so it's not like I dont know what I'm doing.

I'm not NIC because all my work is done for other companies and I dont do houses so I dont know anything about notifying the counciil.

So to do the job it's got to be worth my while, I know it'll take a day, and materials have got to be about £100. I dont know how much the council charge for their bit. So I'm wondering, what all you guys that regularly work in domestic situations charge, so I know to price accordingly.

Cheers for your input fellas.
