Curious on why..

in what way......

See my above post.

1000Kg of water is 1000L is 1000cm^2 of volume.

Water freezes at 0 and boils at 100.

How is this not easier to understand?

Start having to do process calculations within a computer or PLC is almost impossible in imperial measurements, it simply wouldn't be accurate.

Even the yanks program calculations in metric and then convert the output value for human use back to imperial.

We just confuse people here because we've got some botched hybrid system. If we had fully converted at the time, half the issues would be gone.

It's the old farts club, they're still using abacuses :D:p:D

or should that be abaci?
as in hippopotamus/hippocotomi?

and the next race is 12 furlongs, sorry, 2.37km.
won by ---, 17 hands, sorry, 1.7 m.
and my van holds 12 gallons diesel..oops. 54.5 loonies liters.

so where's the easiy bit with the maths?

Easy, the race becomes 2.4km
1.7 meters I see no issue.
Again don't see how 54.5 liters is an issue. Or do you stand at the pump an work out cost per gallon? I do understand that us measuring fuel economy in MPG is part of the hybrid c0ck up. Easier in Europe with km/l

An what math are you doing with these measurements?

there's 8 furlongs in a mile... simple. how many 2.4km in a mile is complicated maths. convert km to yards, then divide into 1760. can't do that in my head.

That's the point I'm making Tel, if we had converted fully to metric. There is no need for a conversion at all.

How many miles is 500 + 8000 yards?

How many KM is 500 + 8000 meters?

How many miles is 500 + 8000 yards? mental calc. 3/4. or using a guessing stick, 0.73863636.

How many KM is 500 + 8000 meters? 1.300 but that's meaningless. can't visualise such a virtual distance.

Both wrong haha.

8500 yards is = 4.829545miles

8500meters is = 8.5KM.

Easy.

my bad, read the 8000 as 800. beer glasses.
