Discuss Customer has his own pre 17th cu he wants to use in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

M

martinxxxxxx

He has already put it on a board next to the existing cu (bless him)

It is a Wylex NHRS5504ymCb Split board 6 RCD protected ways and 6 non protected ways

I think I can use this by having

On the non RCD side

Shed Sub main (has own rcd, will check Zs at this installation)
Cooker has 45A main switch
Lights down

&

On RCD

Lights up
Ring main down
Ring main util
Ring main up
Shower.

Will obviously do a PIR first.

Any problems?

Thanks Martin

PS normally I would just tell him to buy a new cu, but he is a bit fixated on keeping it and I am busy and job need to be done by week monday

This is not meant to be sarcastic but the medium of text communications always makes this ind of response seem so.

They are expensive and I don't believe I need them for the circuits that I have mentioned as the installation of the cooker is surface clipped direct, the shed is armored cable not buried and the downstair light are all inside permitted zones.

Do you think I should get RCBO any way, two of them would cost as much as a 17th board!

Grateful

Martin

It is a wired fixed equipment so as long a it Zs checks out and the wiring to it is either surface mount or 5cm in the wall or mech protected I don't think it does.?

In fact I have checked this with ElecSA and they are of the same opinion

Unless you know diff, I know the smashy guys have other rules.
