Cut meter tails

Working on a new build site i've come back to a property that i'd 1st fixed to find someone has cut all the cables going to the exterior of the house including the 25mm meter tails in the meter box.

The house has been boarded so renewing the cables isn't really an option. What would be the correct way to extend 25mm cables as they are about 1M short as they enter the meter box. I know this is far from ideal but I don't really seem to have any other option.

Whats at the other side of the wall?
With a bottom right hand entry to the meter box,those tails look far too short to extend inside the cabinet
I suppose a switch fuse house side of that wall would be a no go ?

The choices left if "changing" them is not on, inline crimping with heat shrink(which would not be the best decision because they would likely be well hidden and not open to being able to keep an eye on them)
Could you consider a metal box and blank plate house side where they could then be extended

In a perfect world you could ask the thieves to "think about what they have done" and to maybe put the cables back the way they found them
Oh sorry that sort of action is already the standard response to low level crime like pinching tools and vans etc in this country

Id say the opposite is true, if doing it out of spite you make sure to cut them so short they couldn't be joined.
Thieves will grab and go, being more concerned about being seen doing it than making a neat job of it.

Sorry, I just think that an undesigned crimped joint in a new installation is how it was designed they should be replaced as new. We are trying to appease the builder so no making good and not what is correct.

Having seen the photo I assume that the meter box is going where the block is you may just have enough to make off in Henly blocks but you have to consider that on the LHS is normally where the cut-out is. If not they will have to be replaced and the developers will have to get to grips with that is what will have to be done you should not be having to bodge a new installation.

Cables entering from above can cause any damp or water ingress to run down the cable into the joint or equipment where they terminate

I thought this was a new build? I don't see why this cannot be repaired as original. Whoever and why ever the cables were damaged,is immaterial,this is going to sold as a new property,and should not be cocked-up,compared to the one next door.

It's the reason i would not have a new house,given me...unless i had control of the reins,from the get-go.

What you say is correct regarding the tails coming in from the bottom. Therefore the joint would be in the wall cavity as there is not enough to bring in the bottom of the meter box.

why do we do this to ourselves,there is only one answer here, replace the meter tails and other cut cables as they were, cost is irrelevant.

Have a word with the client, main contractor or site management, whichever. It's a new house. The odds are that they would want a total replacement...if they don't, they're worth SFA, for not considering the future owners.

I agree with replacement of tails, but discuss with developer why you are doing it.
They might be able to do something about it

I’d explain to the main contractor/site manager, that unless you can replace these cut cables with new cables, you won’t sign this one off, as it’s you name on the EIC and the condition of all the wiring will be based on your companies reputation. Which ever way you spin this, a crime has been committed, report it to the police and claim on the sites insurance for the cost of the replacement cable.
