I have a job coming up installing 3 compartment Dado trunking. Is there a standard or spec for which cables go in which compartment. I would assume that power goes in the centre compartment and data etc in the outer compartments?

Thanks for the constructive reply Davesparks...... Asked for advice that's all, thought that was the point of the forum.

And advice is what I gave, use common sense and follow the system which has been established in the existing installation.

There are no rules about which cable goes where in the trunking.

use tie rap bases in the bottom compartment so you can secure the cables with tie raps so you can fit the bottom lid easier

If you use MK Prestige 3D, the bottom compartment can be half clipped on before running any cables, so it sits like a little shelf or trough to put the cables in, like this.....

I've seen the situation where data is run in the top & power in the bottom & where data & power points are required the divider is drilled and cables passed through to the box, this gives maximum spacing between power & data and no chance of squashing cables behind the boxes which with some dado trunking can be tight,

Yes that is the problem with dado as Gaz's picture shows not much room behind them back boxes , very important when designing not to have to many power circuits in the middle compartment

Thanks everyone for their replies. Seems there is no 'standard' which is what I wondered. Will speak to the client and possibly theit IT guys to see if they have any preference. Thanks guys
