Tried some Tin (+flux) only out.
Exotic fluxes - not to be sniffed at !
Felt like I had lost some natural ability overnight .. Stuff with some silver in nicer !
(But should be at price)

Not perchance hiding the string, araldite & Yellow+ green Insulating tape holding it together ..After an close encounter of the "ground" Kind ?
woof,woof.it had a new flex fitted in 1987, 3 core silicon cable 8 ft.long.
 
87 eh the year the Christmas lights in Blackpool where meant to be turned on and they didn't as someone had stolen the cable from the switch to the relay............. ;o)))))
wasn't me, honest.
