I know where you're coming from with cap... but you have the inverter to give you the three phase your motor requires.

What is the specs of the motor?

Is it 400v Star or 400v Delta?

Is it a dual voltage motor? 230/400 or 400/690?

Is the trip happening under load or no-load?

The motor is 2.2Kw 50Hz 230 volts Delta or 400 Star 8 Amps & 4.6 1Amps respectively
or 2.64Kw 60Hz 276 volts Delta or 480 volts star
I know I already have the convertor but i'd prefer not to use it as i'm worried about the amount of earth leakage. The workshop and other buildings are all supplied from a single 30mA RCD and only one supply cable so if tripping occurs due to leakage I'll have more problems.
The convertor was locking out approx 10 seconds after switching on and the display read "ALARM 8" which according to the manual means "DC Under voltage". I'm not sure from the manual how to fix this so i'll try to call Danfoss tomorrow but would appreciate any help on the convertor or capacitor in the meantime.
Many thanks
Shugs

DC undervoltage... is your supply constant and suitably sized?

What size is your supply and tails?
Supply length?
What size and distance are the tails to the motor?

Try setting parameter 14-12 to [1]... and view param. 16-30 when inverter powered-up.

I've got it set-up on a temp 4mm supply voltage is around 237 the supply is approx 5m
tails to motor are 2.5mm screened flex. I've just checked the settings and everything in the quick setup menu seems to have reset itself, is this because it was off for a few days . Am I missing something or does the programming manual not show all the menu numbers/options

The best manual I can find is this http://mcliterature.danfoss.com/WebPublish/doc_MG02C502.pdf

Look at page 62...

WARNING/ALARM 8,
DC under voltage If the intermediate circuit voltage (DC link) drops below the under voltage limit, the frequency converter checks if a 24V DC backup supply is connected. If no 24V DC backup supply is connected, the frequency converter trips after a fixed time delay. The time delay varies with unit size.

Troubleshooting:
Check that the supply voltage matches the frequency converter voltage. Perform input voltage test Perform soft charge circuit test

What's the drive's model number from the sticker? It's after the T/C: and starts FC-051P...

And what's the IN: rating? Make sure its 1x200-240v 50Hz

Hi silva.foxx,
Thanks for all your help and what a fool I am. Normally when working with something unfamiliar I would check everything out myself but as the company who provided the convertor specialise in motors .....
Anyway I'm sending it back and I'll let you know how I get on.
Once again thanks for your help

Cheers for coming back each time.

Some first-time posters come here with Q's, get possible A's then don't feed back with whether the fix has worked. They disappear!

All contributors to this site do so out of the goodness of their heart... they're all great guys.

Let us know if all is well when you get the right drive.
