Your thoughts fellow testers how many tests now I no it's hard to say exactly how many you can do but I've quoted that each circuit will take 30 minutes per test ie visual. All dead tests All live test etc but the company that I'm doing it four are saying you need to be doing 4 circuits per hour what's your thoughts please

Couldn't do 4 per hour properly and fill in the test sheet, not possible, whats the name of the firm ? YE HA Electrics

4 an hour . lets see ...You could do with filling out the EICRs in the evening , would save you visiting the job ...LOL..

Glad you said what you have chaps its Halfl an hour per ic ircut to me no just this chancer of a boss trying it on saying in the real world company's do 4 an hour when I said are doing them properly he asked what am I sujesting ha ha give me a rough time per circuit what you guys take please just interesting to compare

i'd say a minimum of 30 mins per circuit. anything unlabelled or otherwise out of the ordinary, longer.

How long will it take to isolate / remove equipment inc light fittings / lamps , then the continuity test and polarity test then I/R test . then Zs test , RCD test , paperwork , then put light fittings /lamps back together or reconnect all equipment etc ..

4 an hour is not possible

I would guess about 20 per day. If you know the buiding you could double that though.

So 20 per day, 8 hour day is 2.5 every hour so 1 circuit every 24 miutes - I'd say that is pushing it abit so I'd say max 2 per hour would be a goal.

I did one today - 6 circuits, empty property - I charged 2/3 of a day and did it properly. Spent about 3 hours onsite and have the cert to do on the PC tomorrow.

Hi guys, my first forum post so go easy on me :p

I believe it all depends on the installation you are testing really? Ive tested some schools for example, and its taken up to an hour to identify what the circuit is doing. Thats with two guys with walkie talkies! lol deep joy.

However, with regards to domestic, i would say allow up to one hour per circuit. Not all houses are new and straight forward. The company should acknowledge this.

What have you been asked to test mate?

I allow an hour per circuit as a rough guide but we all know it can take a lot longer if there's identifying and tracing to be done, or you come across a fault, all I can say is at the 4 circuits an hour that gaffer is saying about those lads must have sore wrists and numb arses if it's a big site. I'd leave him to it if I were you

saying that though I've just been to a site today to quote for some remedial work off the back of an EICR a mob from Sheffield carried out and they managed a full test on 50 circuits (mixture of single phase and 3 phase) spread over 6 DB's and the paperwork in under 4 hours. Half of the observations I was looking at didn't exist and they missed 3 C1's and 5 C2's that I noticed while trying to find the make believe observations
