Dead short

When carrying out a EICR the lighting circuit will show a dead short if you have forgotten to disconnect a lamp somewhere. Is there anyway of getting a true reading without removing all of the lamps?

as long as you have consulted the person ordering the test first......just covering your arse here.....so no one can say'well he didn't perform the full test'....or something like that.....

The thing that always worries me if it will start tripping when i put new CU. Do you risk it for a biscuit, and waste time looking for a dead short after, or waste time removing lamps and transformers (especially them lovely Auroa bathroom downlights that people love to mastick around and end up brining down half the ceiling when trying to remove one!)

As lamps are a consumable, they should all be removable for changing by a "non-competent" person. You could always offer 2 quotes, one where you remove the lamps and another where the customer takes them all out for you. That way, they can see just how long it takes... :teeth_smile:

yep....going round de-lamping...wireing out dimmers and dropping smokes n heats.....all adds up......
