Apologies to mods if this is a repeated thread. I have searched but have been met with mostly dated answers.

I'm new to the forum, been a qualified Electrician since summer last year, previous to the apprenticeship i did and completed my A levels. I have decided I would like to start heading down the design route of the industry, all my work has been commercial/industrial based throughout my apprenticeship and thereafter.

What is the best route to take to get into the design side of the job? HNC/HND in Electronic and Electrical engineering is where I'm being sent to the most when I'm searching and surfing the web.

Any information is greatly appreciated.

Dan

I'm in the same boat as you, I've done the 2391-10 testing and the 2391-20 design. Next step im going to do hnc in building services engineering (electrically biased). (providing I can get time off from work) this seems to be the best course if your going down the installation design route.

Wow, very fast response times haha.

Cheers for the info, recently started putting my CV together as I'm fed up of Sub Contracting direct to a large firm. So I'll politely enquire about being taken on in a position in the field or a position with intentions of starting a course part time.

Just researching for a short time has made it clear we can do all sorts once at the Electrician stage. Just patience and hard work eh!
