Hi Folks
i'm looking at getting my first battery drill. my budget is 200 quid.
Found a dewalt 14.4v xrp combi drill for 204 quid at Direct Brand Tools.com, everywhere else theyre about 250 with the same accessories ie 2x 2.6 NiMH batts.
has anyone else had any dealings with this shop and are they as good as they seem.

Thanks

i.ve had a hitachi 24v sds for 12 years. it beats anything dewalt have. and makita batteries suck

My first pro drill was a 14v Dewalt XRP with 2x 2.6Ah NiMh batteries (model DC935KB) which I bought about 5 years ago, largely because everyone else seemed to use them so it would be easier to get parts, borrow chargers etc.
IMO they're not all that - sometimes you can't change the settings, it got stuck on hammer action for a bit which was most annoying, I worked with an apprentice whose DeWalt started turning in an oval shape, making it totally useless, then it started working fine again.

Screwfix were doing an 18v 3Ah L-ion combi drill for around ÂŁ150 (just over ÂŁ200 with 2 batteries), which I reckon looks loads better. Despite the higher power I think it's actually lighter as well.
Unfortunately Screwfix stopped people linking to their website so I can't post a link.

If I had the money I'd go for Bosch professional which I reckon are the best, but for anything with a 13mm chuck you're talking serious money.

Got hitachi 14.4v and 18v indistructable had them for 2 years, been off ladders and stuff.screwfix do a 14.4v with 3 batteries for about ÂŁ110 and you can get the 18v for not much more good cheap but tuff if you kill them cheap to replace.

Hi There,

I have the Dewalt 18 v XRP and its the dogs wotsits! It'll go through anything, only downside for me is a 2nd battery is almost as much as I paid for the drill. Charge time is really quick mind!
