Dewalt Cable Stapler... DCN701

What do we think of this? Tool or toy? Thoughts of the time I spend in lofts... which is a lot. Since these staples only work in wood, it's good for floor joists, lofts or timber frame. How often do I really use clips when routing cable through joists, none only along them. However when I am using them (clips) and I'm spending more time than I want to prattling about, I think this is a good idea and wish I had one.

I would hope so, never seen one in real life. The blurb advises that you can also drives the staples in with a hammer in tight spaces... so maybe not - wouldn't that be ironic...

I've not seen one either, but they look pretty hefty on the videos I have seen.

An alternative is the Arrow T72 manual stapler which also loads with insulated staples.

I have the arrow t72, pretty useful, but it can be difficult to get into some gaps.

I didnt realise that.the us dewalt stuff (20v) 99% of time is same as uk 18v stuff with different sticker/badge and even with the import fees can work out cheaper than uk prices! Mate has a.lot of the us tools all 20v and work fine with 18v batteries, have a gander online the prices are.often quite a bit different

I love dewalt tools but paying that much for a stapler is a bit ott. Mind you I have just bought the 54v grinder today so who am I to say anything about the cost of things. If it makes your job and life easier then buy it

That’s a good point which I neglected to mention. All my power tools are dewalt, so I have the batteries (18 and 54) and chargers, so would only consider the bare tool which is then much cheaper. What do you think of the grinder - thought about getting but didn’t realise it was 54v. My SDS has paid for itself several time now and happy with it.

I picked it up after work so haven’t tried it yet. I have a 54v sds and it’s fantastic so I’m sure the grinder will be as good. I was looking at the cheaper grinder but I think everything is going towards the bigger battery so I’m trying to get all my tools with the bigger better batteries. I also have the dewalt lawnmower which is really really good. Very impressed

If I was clipping a lot to timber then I would probably invest in one, best Dewalt tool I have at the minute is the USB adapter for the batteries, great for charging my phone on site.

54v. The beauty is that I can use the same battery for longer life on the 18v stuff since it auto senses, and 18 or 3x18 = 54.

It’s good stuff from dewalt at the moment. The flexvolt batteries are incredible
