difference in Hz different country

Recently got a stove from the USA
This is the Info

3 wire - 1 phase - 60Hz - A.C only
For use on 3wire - 120/240 or 120/208 v. system

120/240v
12.6KW

120/208v
9.5KW

For use in Fiji according to our electrician, he cannot guarantee if its safe or not the detail below is our power supply in Fiji

3 wire - 1 phase 50Hz - a.C Only

there is a difference of 10 hz

how safe is it?
Any suggestion or recommendations

Hi,
You haven't mentioned what voltage you have there at your premesis
in fiji. But as for your frequency difference,it should only effect your clock{if you have one}.Your carefully timed curry may be a little burnt,but there should be no other safety issues provided your electrician connects up correctly.If as I think is the case your voltage is 230volts(+or- 10volt)It is likely that your american cooker cable colours are green for earth,white ,neutral,red hot1,black hot2.The usa voltage gives between neutral and hot1 120v,neutral and hot2 120v,hot1 and hot2 240v.So for your supply voltage you have 230v between neutral and hot(live).this would need to be connected to your hot1 and hot2 on the cooker.The cooker white neutral would then not be used.Hopefully your control circuit,clock and indicater lights are 230volt.or else your spark may have to do more internal alterations.

I recon you would be best trying to contact the technical support of your stove's manufactor.Perhaps a240/110 transformer could be used if you needed dual voltage.I still however don't think the frequency (Hz) will be a problem.Good luck.

Surely if the clock uses the supply frequency as a source then the food will be undercooked by 20% !
Could be dangerous!
