different make of MCBs..

Went to have a provisional look at possible PIR on pub today..... what a mess !!

One thing I did notice quite a bit of were in a couple of the CU's there were about 3 different makes of MCB.

Is usually this acceptable...?

Depends what the manufacturer of the dis. board says I would imagine as to whether other makes are compatible. Do they fit properly? I don't think it's ideal.

I wouldn't have said there is anything wrong with it, not a preferred practise but if all fit correctly and have not been modified to fit then don't think there is a reason for failure?

Breakers can have different names on them but can be from same manufacturer. eg mem & eaton.
merlin gerin & schnieder etc.

If they're the same form factor i.e. they fit properly, and they are the correct rating there's nothing at all wrong with it.

Not necessarily in a domestic situation, as the 16.5kA rated BS1361 IIb upstream supply fuse will break the fault...
