Digital Timer Help Please! :S

I recently bought a digital timer to use with my fluorescent light. Only thing is I have a plug in light and the timer is wired in (fits in where a light switch normally goes). I was wondering if someone could describe to me in detail how to set up the digital timer to control a plug in outlet instead. That way I won't have to buy a new timer that plugs in (seeing as the hardware store has none). This would be a great help to me and I would appreciate it a lot. I have no knowledge of setting up electrical wires except for knowing I need to shut off the power when working on it. :S

I don’t suppose you’ve looked on Google for the model of timer you have?

You don’t give a make or model, you are asking a UK site where the chances of anyone even knowing the timer will be remote.

My timer is a Likewise 24-hour Programmable Timer (052-8280-0) 600 W Incandescent, 5 A resistive/inductive, 1/6 HP motor load, 120 V AC, 60 Hz
