Discuss Dimmer switch & Ventilation fan in the Australia area at ElectriciansForums.net

In relation to the dimmer switch operating the ventilation fan, there are certain perameters which must be identified first, such as -- is it a multi-speed fan, is the wattage of the dimmer sufficient enough for the motor size. There does not seem to be sufficient enough information to answer the question properly.

In a fan with a timer over-run the switch live is only used to trigger the fan. The fan itself is powered by the permanent live so that it keeps running after the light is switched off.
