To my knowledge, LED's fed from a transformer, to work with a dimmer, requires a special LED driver for the dimming to work correctly. I may be wrong.

Is the 'transformer' in the fitting dimmable? What sort is it?

If the fitting came with the G4 LEDs then any low load dimmer should be OK to dim the driver, trailing edge dimmers tend to work better. Just make sure the minimum load is less than the load of the fitting.

I would say the chances of this working are somewhere between slim and none.

The fact it has G4 lamps and not an integrated LED suggests that it was designed for halogen capsule lamps not LED lamps, and so the transformer will be exactly that and not an LED driver.

Varilight V-Pro is worth trying. Seems to work with many set-ups.
