Discuss distance of sockets to a gas cooker in the Electrical Course Trainees Only area at ElectriciansForums.net

Gas engineers are allowed to install appliances in accordance with BS 6172. BS 6172 refers to ‘Electrician’s Guide to the Building Regulations Part P which gives guidance on location of electrical fittings in kitchens.

The electricians guide to the building regulations has an illustration with a minimum distance of 300mm horizontally.
and states along the lines of a minimum distance of 300mm, measured horizontally from an electrical fitting to the edge of a high level grill, free standing cooker, individual hob, sink or drainer, is considered acceptable for the purposes of avoiding adverse effects from using a cooker, sink or drainer.

What has the width of the tiles got to do with it? He's fitting a cooker which is the same width as the gap between the sockets, whatever else happens common sense says they will be too close.
no, the right hand side socket is a tile width from the edge of the hob. if the tiles are 6", then that is just enough.
